Mardi Gras! French for "Fat Tuesday" that originated as long ago as 130BC. A religious-based tradition to eat rich foods and drink, this day is celebrated from Italy all across to the United States. Popular and famously known in New Orleans, Louisiana. Typically this date falls in mid February, near or after Valentine's Day.
This brilliant ceramic tree has three colors displayed on the white glaze. The pin lights are purple, green and yellow. Up top of the tree is a vintage green or purple aurora topper.
This small tree is 5 inches tall with the base. Each tree fits a small glazed base that's lit with a night light bulb. The light has a two-prong plug and 6ft cord.
Each ceramic vintage style tree is hand made in my studio. Using the slipcasting method, each tree is poured mixing premium ceramic slip. Once poured, the ceramic must cure and dry in the ceramic mold before being removed. After the tree is removed you clean each seam and branch before firing in the kiln. Removed once the kiln is cooled, the trees must cool all morning. Every piece is cleaned and inspected before applying three coats of glaze. The glaze then dries between each application and is fired once more in the kiln. The jewel-toned pin lights accent the Mardi Gras style and are hand glued. Every base is wired and tested before being shipped.
